TC-150 and TC-500 BreecudaThe Breecuda
is a concept for a new transport for the 21st century, a commuter aircraft
offering jet like performance which flies like a helicopter. Breecuda can
give 800 km/hr services at current rail fare prices (using low speed, or
conventional trains) without government subsidy; calibrated from a 50% passenger
load-rate. Breecuda was created to give everyday workers public transport
equivalent to their own personal low-cost helicopter. The type was conceived
around air-fares offered by budget airlines, scaled to short range flights and
the performance needs of such an aircraft. The TC-150
offers a 150 seat Breecuda service and the TC-500 a 500 seat design. These
types have low cost introductory price since no rails need to be laid or
maintained, and they can operate with hydrogen or Bio-fuels, meaning no strain
on power station infrastructure. During the
peak of aerospace development in the late 1960s there were several proposals
for a vertical take-off and landing type of inter-city services. These included
the Dornier Do-31, which completed a highly successful test programme, proving
a VTOL type could work. Reasons - citied to be politically based stopped the Do-31
from gaining the success in a commercial environment. Since this
time the world has changed, away from a martial type existence to an era where
productivity and everyday people’s way of life is paramount. Low cost high
speed transport easily able to augment existing transport is essential for the
21st century. |
